I'm presenting this as a game upgrade rather than an expansion idea because of the fact it would be unfair to make it an expansion since those not owning the expansion could still be trampled by, short or rammed by appropriate vehicles, thuse it should be a game enhancement like the CU.
The premise of this idea is that non combat vehicles will remain the pervue of the Master Artisan ( that is any vehicle that acts like our current swoop, speederbike, X31, X34, Flash, AV21, or BARC speeders )
That being said this will introduce some new stuff based somewhat losely on the starships in JtL
Combat Vehicle Engineer
Prerequisite: Master Artisan
Okay this actually would work much like the Shipwright profession. There would be four columns each really corresponding to the same columns on the Shipwright chart.
Imperial Combat Vehicle Driver/Rebel Combat Vehicle Driver/Privateer Combat Vehicle Driver
Okay these work like the Pilot professions, they will not take skill points, and thus be available to everyone. They have the same restrictions as the pilot though ( So Civilian and Imp can be IMP, Civilian and Reb can be REB, and IMP, Civilian, or Reb can be a Privateer )
There is no Astromech line. The lines are Repulsorlift Craft, Ground Effect Vehicles ( like wheeled, tracked or walker vehicles ), Submersibles, and then a line that gives vehicle specials. AT least that's how I see it.
At the Novice Box you would get a Military Speeder Bike. It would have room for a reactor and one weapon. That's it. Unlike JTL you would need to purchase one when you got it. Also no vehicle loots like in JTL, everything is crafter made thus ensuring the viability of the combat vehicle engineer, there may be certain enhancements available that the engineer can use to make better stuff ( like from Balmorra in My Tarkin Doctrine Expansion )
Imperial Combat Vehicle Driver
The AT-AT and AT-AT Swimmer are in Imperial Master Combat Vehicle Driver Box
The AT-ST is in the Imperial Ground Effects IV box
The Nen-Carvon PX-4 Mobile Command Base is in the Imperial Ground Effects III box.
The AT-PT is in the Imperial Ground Effects II box
The CAV ( Combat Assault Vehicle ) is at Imperial Ground Effects I Box
The Ubrikkian HAVr A9 Floating Fortress is at Imperial Repulsorlift IV box ( 2 weapon)...this takes a crew of 4 only the driver has to have box 4, two gunners, can hold 10 others as well.
The Mekuum Hoverscout is at Imperial Repulsorlift III box ( 2 weapon, 1 ordnance)...this takes a crew of 4 ( driver and then one gunner per weapon, can hold 6 others too )
The Uulshos LAVr QH-7 Chariot is at Imperial Repulsorlift II box ( 1 weapon )
The Aratech 64-Y Swift 3 Repulsorlift Sled is at Imperial Repulsorlift I Box ( 1 weapon )
