General Mission/Quest Ideas

GCW-oriented missions

  • Raids on faction POI base to switch alignment
  • Patrols in big towns for imperials, must stay alive within timeframe
  • Regional bases you’re assigned to. Bases get attacked, you must defend or something.
  • Weekly GCW stories
  • Have Faction missions mean something in the larger scheme of the game.
  • Have solicited quests based on the number and kinds of badges you have plus faction points. “Lieutenant Hayoo Bak’Ta’Wak, some time ago you added our fight against the enemy, now a grave danger faces us all. A person or data has been lost to someone named Yadayada. We do not know who this person is, but our contact in the location may know. Please go to him and find out why he has broken contact and recover the information or destroy it. Your services will be greatly appreciated and reward. End transmission.”
  • Allow the stealing of uniforms. Take out a guy and take his uniform to impersonate an officer, swappable in inventory.
  • Make Vader and the Emperor move around, leaving advisors in places to relay their messages or have holograms appear. Make the arrival of the Emperor great pomp and circumstance. Same with the other characters. Have proxies where they go or have been, like a droid who can relay a message for them.
  • Bunkers to infiltrate
  • Have rank affect the mission, like increasing the bonus if successful or different opponents or difficulties.
  • Yavin Death Star debris field
  • Endor crackdown, hunting of Ewoks, must defend villages for time.

Quest ideas

  • Go investigate, solve puzzle, get map, kill thugs, reward
  • Shake up each quest for each person. Same quest, different name, location, etc.
  • Group quests
  • Multi-planet quests
  • Integrate missions between space and ground for those with JTL. Seamlessly go from one to the other by having special landing areas on planet, spawned for that mission perhaps. Allow us to steal other ships and fly them to mission destinations. Finish the mission and you get to keep the ship.
  • Profession-specific quests (or types of quests that reward a type of profession)
    • Smuggling quests
      • not necessarily aligned with any faction – “just sneak this in.”
    • Bounty Hunter quests
      • Consensual player bounties, like if they have a debt or failed a mission, can only be hunted once. Risk vs. reward. Automatic, not player induced, but player participated.
      • Borrow money, don’t pay up by date and you get a bounty on you that stays for a certain amount of in-game time (not including instanced areas). If you’re killed they slice your account, and liquidate some of your assets, and put you in the red if you don’t have the money. Must be a certain rank, faction, reputation to borrow that kind of money – keeps from players getting a bogus account to buy them crap.
  • Monthly story arcs
  • Show hotspots in space for activity
  • Instanced team vs team missions (like battlefields)
  • Allow bribes during quests to get info out of the person – hints to know how much (different for anyone).
  • Assign badge to a quest
  • Make generic missions for money only
  • Make NPC missions for both money, faction, and XP.
  • Distress call missions
  • Being contacted enroute, or emails being sent soliciting your help and coordinates where to meet, etc.
  • No static spawn areas for a quest
  • More events, but with Hero characters in large battles (in space or on the ground), although never against one another Hero character on the same field. Let there be weeks of preparation, plans drawn up, Leia decked out in gear, rebels racing around the HQ or a station. Then the signal to move out. Have Imperial missions to discover targets, locations, points of entry, NPC troop levels, etc. Have missions to evacuate key personnel before invasion. Reverse for Imperials.
  • XP rewards for NPC quests.
  • Have criminal quests, petty theft, pick-pocketing (given a target, must follow and steal, get away), breaking and entering, stealing stuff at the Docking Bay, placing a homing beacon on something, etc.
  • Jawa and Ewok missions.
  • Earn titles from factions who will refer to you by that title from then on, even if no one else does.
  • Reputation system…I thought that’s what Faction points were for.
  • Have hover droids come up and plop a message in your inventory and zip away.
  • Or have a droid or person with a droid in tow deliver you a holo message.
  • Allow player-made quests, if you have a big enough title or reputation. Be able to place an NPC somewhere and dole out the mission for an item you know is in a particular place. Have them fetch the item and return it, etc., with any twists and turns you want in. Allow player cities to induce quests for their inhabitants to draw crowds. Clues can be left in news terminals.
  • Have eavesdropping induced missions. Go to cantina, talk to bartender or just sit there and “listen in” and a popup window starts a mission. It will ask you to remember the name? You can only have so many names in memory, based on mind stat. Say yes and it’s entered in notes. Go to old friend or contact and he’ll find the name for you. You must win a friend or contact. Allow players to become contacts themselves with access to databases (that they can’t look up but is triggered when someone comes to them and clicks on them. Build network of faction-based contacts. Accidentally kill their cousin or friend and uh oh! Have to win back trust.
  • Current themeparks, recurring missions, no end.
  • Down Star Destroyer quest
  • Docked at Stations
  • Create surprises for players to get something neat when they first enter the world. The problem though is that people would get jealous and stupid, thinking they were entitled to something else and demand they get what they wanted. But you can do the reward thing, where they suddenly are given a choice of three things and you simply pick.
  • Resource quests, stealing, trading, gathering supplies for a base or item.
  • hase meter? Tells you if you’re being chased or tracked as part of the story.
    • Not automatically updated
    • Have to consult contacts or ask around to tell if the chasers are hotter on your trail.
    • Skill use? Updates the meter?
  • Quest where you help someone book passage out of the system, perhaps on your JTL ship or just to the star port
  • Do everything possible to avoid rabbit farming unless you need to harvest their resources.

NPCs ask for help via mail, based on your level, faction, race, badges, and template.
