Hunters of the Galaxy by MeciniaLau
Return to Mecinia Index

Within the vastness of the Empire's thousand thousand worlds are those species which are well suited to hunting down prey. Some of these like the Shistavanen were once before the Empire great explorers stretching the borders of the Republic continually. Today some of them serve the Empire as trackers and hunters, others continue to explore new worlds for the Alliance, secret worlds.

Others like the Rodian were on the verge of wiping life out on their planet when they were found by the Republic. They took the hunt to the stars. Where once they hunted the great beasts of Rodia, today they hunt whoever is worth the biggest purse.

The Trandoshan under the guidance of the Empire helped enslave Kashyyyk and bring order to the Wookies who even now work to fuel the Imperial War Machine.

The Gand findsman are among the greatest tracker of men in the galaxy. They have an uncanny ability to track prey that most mammal humanoids cannot approach.

The Ubese were nearly wiped out by their own large scale tactical weapons when a republic sector fleet fired on their worlds from orbit. Reduced to almost nothingness they had a burning in their hearts. The Jedi should have protected them and they did not, they blame the Jedi for their worlds destruction. A more dedicated hunter of Jedi you will not find.....

These are but a few of the races that hunt.

Meat of Expansion:

New Races:

Gamorrean:
Green skinned porcine creatures hailing from the outer rim world of Gamorr, the Gamorreans are violent to a fault. They prefer large melee weapons in combat, carrying swords and axes mostly. Many Gamorreans believe that ranged weapons of any sort are the tools of a coward. Gamorreans posses a great deal of muscle mass however this limits some aspects of agility. In game terms Gamorreans recieve the following: +5 Melee Accuracy, -5 Ranged Accuracy, +5 Melee Damage, +5 Initimidate. They cannot speak basic but do speak their own language.

Gand:
The Gand are a stocky three fingered humanoid race hailing from the planet of the same name in the Outer Rim Territories. On average they are shorter than humans possessing an exoskeleton that ranges in color from green to brown or gray. Gand due to their breathing type combined with their exoskeletons are resistant to disease and poison having a +10 resistance to both.  Gand also have an uncanny knack to track down foes. A Gand can use an ability to perform the function of the Araknyd probe droids and the seeker droids of the bounty hunters, the ability is taxing on the mind though...they can only do this if they are a bounty hunter. Gand are also unusual in their ability to breath Ammonia, however this requires them to wear a breath mask off their worlds.

Shistavanen:
A humanoid canine race hailing from the Uvena star system. Their ears are set high upon their heads and their snouts are pronounced with large fangs. They stand between 1.3 m and 1.9 m in height, males being slightly taller and stronger in build than females. Shistavanen have +10 Terrain Negotiation and +5 Creature Harvesting.

Ubese:
When the Jedi purge was carried out in the early days of the Empire, the Ubese were at the head of the Jedi Death Squads. They blamed the Jedi for the fate of their world. To this day that hatred burns deeply within their race. Few have ever seen a Ubese without their armor, indeed it is necessary for most of them to breath on worlds other than their own. They are near humans who have fair skin and eyes that are brilliant green or blue. They have no body or facial hair. They possess narrow facial features with high cheekbones and eyes that appear to large for their heads when combared to baseline Humans. They love technology, especially destructive technology. The atmosphere of their world, Uba IV is exotic and somewhat polluted, though they have adapted to breath it well they require special breath masks to operate off their worlds. They have a +15 Weapon and Grenade Experimentation. The Ubese much like the Zabrak can wear the full Stormtrooper armor.

New Planets:

Gamorr: The terrain of Gamorr ranges from frozen tundra to deep forests. It is a world of great beauty that off worlders find pleasing. In contrast to this Gamorr is the homeworld of the Gamorreans a race dedicated to violence. The Gamorreans are themselves split into several warring clans, and bringing Gamorreans of different clans together will no doubt result in a battle.

POI: Ship Wreck. Several Gamorrean Clan HQ. Jabba the Hutt's Training Camp

Gand: Gand is an ammonia shrouded world. Its atmosphere is ammonia, its seas are ammonia. In this environment many insect species have arisen, indeed where the mammal or reptile might rule most worlds this world is ruled by insects. They range in size from that of a gnat to the size of a rancor. Some are nonpredatory, others are. Gand poses an Atmosphere Environment Hazard for most species. Its land is primarily flat. Gand is the homeworld of the race by the same name.

Rodia: Rodia is a humid world covered in heavy rainforest. Though at one time her creatures were in danger of extinction they have since recovered well in the years since their discovery by the Republic. Rodia is the homeworld of the Rodians.  Indeed several Rodia hunting centers are on the planet that offer offlanders the opportunity to hunt the native wildlife of Rodia for a fee. On these there are several annual festivals that exist to honor the hunt, the more intelligent and dangerous a hunter's prey the better. Many Rodians are also bounty hunters, a proffession they consider the most honorable in the galaxy, as such it is not uncommon to see Bounty Hunters upon the surface of Rodia on recreation from their hunts, however they are not above making a few extra credits while they are resting. To support the hunt Rodia has several industries dedicated to weapons and armor.

One POI would be the Flip of the Credit Casino run by Avaro Sookcool. It is a Black Sun front, though most are not aware of that.

City: Equator City ( Flip of the Credit is located in this city )

One small avian native to Rodia that is seen in many magician acts is the Bat-wing.
The reptialian ghest also makes Rodia its home, an amphibious creature it has razor sharp teeth, four heavily clawed feet and a skeleton made of cartlidge rather than bone.

Tatooine: Gep's Grill is added to Mos Eiseley. Run by the Whiphid youths of Fillin Ta and Norun Gep it was noted as an excellent eating spot. Fillin and Norun buy dewback and bantha meat from hunters on Tatooine. ( PC hunters can sell to them, this is to help them with revenue a little when qualities of meat are lower than wanted by PC buyers and give them some content )

Garindon is placed on the streets of Mos Eiseley, he is a Kubaz ( in fact he's the one that led the Stormtroopers to the docking bay in ANH ). BH's can contact him for info on their quarry ( like the spynet ) however he always charges, but always seems to know where folks are. ( You have to buy the info from him, generally based on the CL of the target ).

Trandosha: Sometimes also called by the shorter name of Dosha this is the homeworld of the Trandoshan. It is a world not far from Kashyyyk the homeworld of the wookies. ( In some material I've read they are actually in the same star sytem in others they are not in the same star system but are in a separate star system that is very close to Kashyyyk. ). It is a warm damp world well suited to the Reptillian species that dominate on it. Reptiles range in size form the tiny to the gargantuan. Hunting camps are maintianed for Trandoshans that wish to keep up on their hunting skills and also for offworlders wanting to see a bit of the world. Trandoshan bounty hunters frequently take rest upon their homeworld, they will quickly attack any non Imperial wookie they meet for the bounty on Wookies.

POI: Banis Avenue Imperial Repair FAcility. Capital City: Forak.

Uba IV: In the early days of the Ubese contact with other civilizations they were fascinated by technology and grew by leaps and bounnds. Using new technology they had terraformed Uba IV into a world like unto their homeworld Uba III. That beauty is but a memory today. After the Republic Sector Fleet  fired upon the Ubese worlds they ignited the large scale tactical weapons of the Ubese. Of the five worlds in their system, only Uba IV remained habitable, and then just barely. The world has an Environment Hazard of Pollution over 80% of its land, It has the Environment Hazard of Radiation around 50% of its land. Its seas were scorched away. Its atmosphere is exotic and dangerous to non Ubese posing an Atmosphere Hazard to them. The Republic Sector Council covered up what happened and erased Uba system from the records, a few of them relented and gathered a few survivors to another world. In time these survivors finally found the Uba system again and shared their new technology with the survivors. When Palpatine needed people that would hunt the Jedi, he came to the Ubese, they had felt betrayed by the protectors of the galaxy and eagerly took part in the Jedi purge. Today Uba remains a desolate world with little to offer anyone, it is rumoured mutant creatures immune to the planets pollution and radiation dwell within its waste. Only a single starport dots the world.

Uvena: The Shistavanen homeworld Uvena has faired well under Imperial rule. The Shistavanen's own isolationism has helped them from the harsh crackdowns on other worlds. Merchants and traders on Uvena prefer to deal with their own kind in law and trade. The Empire has found the people of the world useful in tracking criminals and Jedi thus an Imperial Intelligence center is upon the world to recruit these fine trackers. Uvena in geography is typical of many terrasterial worlds having many climates and geographical features.

New Space Zones:

Gamorr: Existing on the Outer Rim, the Gamorr system is far from the Heart of the Empire, given the lack of Imperial patrols in the system due to the primitive nature of its inhabitants it is a common rendevouz point for smugglers, pirates, other other such criminal groups. Hutt ships often visit the world as well to hire expert Gamorrean mercenaries.

Gand: The Gand space sector is frought with much danger as Gand itself is. The sector is the home to several large insect species that are the equivalent of most fighters of the age. These creatures do not breath, as some of the subspecies of Gand do not either.

Rodia: As with most things Rodian, the Rodians have young folks trying to make a name for themselves scouring the space zone to attack whoever they find.

Trandosha: A Trandoshan Slave Processing Station is in orbit around the planet. Many young Trandoshans also seek the thrill of the hunt in the space sector as much as on the land. ( This is assuming that we place Dosha in another system other than Kashyyyk since EU material on the subject seems contradictory ....otherwise this and the planet would be added to the Kashyyyk space sector )

Uba: The shattered remains of Uba III still float in the sector making an asteroid belt where once the world was. Rumour has it that the enterprising might find remains of the Ubese weapons projects from long ago upon the asteroids and among them.

Uvena: An Imperial Ubiqtorate Base floats above Uvena, making it a dangerous world to be approached by rebels.

New Ocean Zones:

Gamorr: The oceans of Gamorr have an intrisic beauty, smaller than those of Naboo or Corellia they nevertheless occasionally warrant visitors.

Uvena: The oceans of Uvena are small but still large enough to warrant an ocean zone.

Though Gand's Ammonia Oceans are large enough to have such a section I have chosen to ignore them at the moment because of the fact they are ammonia based.

New Game Mechanic:

Ship Scanning: Ships can be scanned by Imperial forces to detect illegal cargos. ( Since Space at this time is different than ground we will not have them detect Rebels yet..since that might force folks into PVP that don't won't it ). These scans are done by the TIE/rn ( A TIE Light Duty that carries a scanner instead of ordnance or chaff ) or by Imperial Space Stations ( including the uber one over Uvena. )

Professions:

Architect: 2 new players structures,  Ranch ( for Rangers ) and Coral ( for Creature Handlers )

A Ranch takes two lots. When placing it the Ranger choses a particular creature harvested resource that it produces. It produces only low quality ( 200 across the board ) resources. A suitable rate would be needed probably around 1-2k a day.

A Coral takes two lots. A Creature Handler placing one of these may store 100 additinal pets. Babies placed within the Coral have an accelerated growth rate.

Slave Pen: Takes two lots, A Slaver may store an additional 10 slaves here. ( The slaves can be released by a succesful slicing of the pen. Doing so will alert the Slaver that someone has tampered with it, but unless they are close won't be much they can do. )

Armorer: Rodian Armor, Trandoshan Armor, Gand Armor ( Gand Helmets have breath masks built into them using parts from tailor ), Ubese Helmets are modified to have Breath Mask in them and also require tailor components. Shistavanen armor.

Artisan: Ubrikkian Bantha II Cargo Skiff ( Crew: 1, Passengers: 20 )

Bio-Engineer: New clone shematics for insects from Gand, as well as predators from Rodia and Trandosha.

Bounty Hunter: Gain ability to use Advanced Arakyd Probe Droids (certed Invest III), Advanced Seekers(certed Invest III), and then at Master Bounty Hunter...assassin droids.

New Contracts: Slavers: PC slavers who are not careful will wind up on the terms, after all slavery is illegal. Mission payout is equal to a furmulae of how many slaves teh PC has captured and how many CL he has.

Chef: A Gand delicacy that gives an improved terrain negotiation bonus over that offered by travel biscuits ( this one would use medium food additives ), A Rodian drink that gives an even better improved terrain negotiation ( this one uses heavy food additives ), A trandoshan food that gives a better creature harvesting bonus than veghash ( uses heavy food additive )

Creature Handler: Besides gaining new types of creatures to train they gain the ability to place a corral at Creature Management IV.

Dancer: 2 Dances ( 1 Gand, 1 Shistavanen )

Droid Engineer: Advanced Arakyd Probe Droids, Advanced Seeker Droids, Assassin Droid Schematic ( a dedicated assassin droid, these would work like the Arakyd Probe Droids and Seeker Droids and would only be available to a Master BH. Though the droids are expendable if used properly they can even the battle against a jedi ), Espionage Module...this module would enable the user to eavesdrop on conversations where the droid was, there is a 5 minute delay before receiving the convesation.

F1 series Droid by Cybot Galactica. This four legged droid was designed to be an aid to exploers and scouts. It was constructed to resemble a canine in form with a heavy grasping jaw capable of holding without crushing. It was equipped with full audio, video and even olfactory pickups. It also had a communications uplink and motion sensors built in. ( In game terms this droid should have bonuses to things like fishing, foraging, mask scent and camouflage )

Jedi: You are the hunted, not the hunter

Musician: 2 Songs ( 1 Rodian, 1 Trandoshan )

Ranger: Gains the abiltiy to place a ranch when they train the fourth skill box in the tree that impoves their creature harvesting.

Shipwright: Shistavanen Explorer Ship, Rodian Fighters, Trandoshan Fighters, Gand Findsman Ship.

Smuggler: Smuggler's gain the ability to apply up to a kit to ships they own, these kits would cause loss of mass on the ships but would gain some benefits to the smuggler. These kits do take a part made by Shipwrights but otherwise are made by smugglers....they are made at Deliquency II ...still thinking on that ( though with the CU this might need revising )

Secret Compartments: This ship modification means that the ship has secret compartments for carrying illegal goods and services. These have ratings on quality and the rating is used to defeat Scanning ( Such as at the Imperial Ubiqtorate Base over Uvena ).

Tailor: Gand Breath Mask, Ubese Breath Mask, Ubese clothes, Gand clothes, Shistavanen clothes, Envitonment Suit: Atmosphere. Advanced Environment Suit ( Can have 2 of the safe environments that exist: Aquatic,  Deep Sea ( technically Deep Sea is an advanced Aquatic and does for both ), Atmosphere, Pollution, Radiation )

Weapon Smith: Gain a few new weapon designs, a new melee weapon 1 handed from the Shistavanen, a new carbine from the Rodians, and a Web-blaster of Trandoshan design, ( The webblaster either can slow a target or immobilize it depending on results similar to traps but can be used on NPCs and PCs ) . CryoBan Projectile Carbine ( a certed weapon exclusive to Slavers. )

New Profession:

Slaver: The Slaver requires the carbine line from Marksman and the unarmed line from Brawler as prerequisites.

Novice: takes combat xp to get. ( envisioned to give slaver mission difficulty 1, slave storage 1, assault armor cert, +10 carbine accuracy, +10 unarmed accuracy. )

Slaver Contacts: A Slaver I your mission difficulty goes up 1, at slaver III it goes up again, and finally at Master it goes up again.

Carbine Incapacitaion: This is a carbine line that improves the Slaver in ranged combat using the carbine. It is gained through carbine xp. It improves accuracy and speed with carbine. Its specials are designed to incapcitate and knockout opponents rather than to kil. At Carbine Incapacitation II gains cert for CryoBan Projectile Carbine which can freeze a target nearly solid if used correctly ( its special gives a penalty to movement and if the penalty reduces you to no move you can't act...very effective in a trained Slaver's hands )

Unarmed Incapcitation: This is an unarmed line that improves the Slaver in unarmed combat. Its specials are designed to incapcitate or knockout the opponent rather than to kill. Uses unarmed xp to gain boxes. Gives bonus to unarmed accuracy, damage, and speed.

Slave Management Line: This takes slaver xp to get up in, each block allows you to hold 1 additional slave for transport in your datapad. ( Each block igives +1 slave storage ). At Slave Management IV you can place a Slave Pen.

Master Slaver: Gives you +2 Slave Storage, Slaver Mission Difficulty +1, bonuses to wearing assault armor, with carbine and unarmed.

GCW:

Imperial: TIE/rn These fighters are equiped to scan ships and detect illegal cargos, though lightly armed themselves it is the danger of them raising the alarm that is greatest. These appear over Champala, Uvena and Naboo ( Naboo because the Emperor's Retreat is there ). They also appear in the space sector of any planet controlled by the Empire in the GCW.

Rebel: Y-Wing Longprobe with minimal weapons and a sensor suite to detect illegal cargos. These appear over in space over Calamari and Corellia ( Because Rebel HQ is there for now....), as well as in the space zone of any planet controlled by the Rebel Alliance in the GCW.

Note: Yes it is possible that over Naboo and Corellia you could end up with both types of scanning ships.

New Factions:

Okay still working on these, these are the names of two BH guilds ( I'm presenting two because though there were many we need to have some semblance of order, now the problem will be in what perks and such we can give em and that's where I need ideas (

A: Guild of Hunters: An extremely secretive order that is almost a myth. Its members are among the most blood thirsty and deadliest bounty hunters in existance. They will hunt anyone or anything.

B: Mantis Bounty Hunter Syndicate: Formed by Lady Marina Mantis the Mantis Bounty Hunter Syndicate was little more than a mercenary army whose members specialised in one form of bounty hunting or another. Mantiss was held on retainer by High Lord Affric. Though based upon Santarine, it had recruiting posts on Gamorr, Rodia and Trandosha.

Addendum:

Annatova made a thread with this great idea:

Hi, Not sure how to get someone's attention to read this but SCIGUY posted this deep on a thread in the core-systems forum.  And I have to say -- its a HUGE enhancement that I think would be REALLY FUN.   Sounds like it might not be too hard to do either.   Well here it is (cut and pasted):

The problem is that there's no easy way for the people willing to do the service to find the people willing to pay for the service, so it's more convenient to just grab a couple missions from a terminal to make credits.

If there was a "player mission" terminal, artisans could put out a hunting order (in game) for 10k herbivore meat (or 10k dantooine avian meat, or 10k Traginor tatooine carnivore meat).  Or have it on a cpu basis (5 cpu for this hide, 10 cpu for that).  Players looking for work could take the mission (informing the player who posted the mission), do the work, and deliver the results.  Escort missions (crafter hiring bodyguards for harvester pickups) or destroy missions (low-CL players needing a spawn of aggros cleared from around their house/harvester) could work the same way.  Those last two might need some sort of fraud protection to make sure payment is given on completion (and not given when not completed).

Now that's a GREAT IDEA!!!! No?

Kind Regards to you all.

(To me this seems like it would go well in this expansion idea)
